overview

Starting my sophomore year, I served as a Digital Communications Coordinator at Morningside University’s Krone Center. In this role, I worked on a diverse range of projects. My work has spanned print media, social graphics, and full-scale marketing campaigns. This overview highlights one of my favorite projects and the strategic creative solutions I delivered.

research + direction

Designing this magazine spread was all about finding the right balance. I had to stay true to the university's branding while creatively filling a four-page layout. To get a feel for the style, I looked through previous admissions brochures and website content. I also spent time studying past issues of Morningsider magazine to make sure my work fit the overall look and feel. Throughout the process, I teamed up with another intern to ensure our designs felt cohesive and worked well together

design + rationale

Fitting a large amount of content into a set layout requires careful planning. In the flight nurse feature, I used text-wrapping and background removal to showcase key subjects without sacrificing space for the copy and other elements. This approach made the nurses the focal point of the design while keeping the spread organized and easy to read.

results

This project was a great opportunity to utilize my design skills into the world of print. Through this process, I honed skills for complex layout techniques in InDesign and learned to manage the logistics of professional-grade print products. I especially valued the challenge of creating a high-impact piece for the university and broader community while working within established brand standards and timeline.
